R.I.P.

The beautiful Lena Horne passed away this Sunday at the age of 92 in New York City. I remember her best as Glinda the good which in  "The Wiz", but her resume stretches miles longer than just that role.
Born in Brooklyn in 1917, she quickly became involved in music and theatre. A member of the Cotton Club one of here biggest projects were "A Cabin in the sky". Her political activism for equal rights against discrimination, did not fall on deaf ears. As an active Delta Sigma Theta, she worked with Eleanor Roosevelt to pass the anti-lynching laws. She refused to preform for segregated audiences during WWII USO shows for the troops. Horne often spoke of the treatment she received in certain studios. This led her to be blacklisted during the 1950's. While she did continue to work afterwards it would be a while before it got frequent again. She sparked more controversy with her second marriage to a man of another race, which she later admitted was to bringing. attention to the discrimination laws, as well as spike her career. In 1989 she received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. She retired in 2000.

***I love a woman who speaks her mind and am a little in love with her after reading all that I have about her. She did a one woman show "Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music" that i plan on looking for amongst the video library.. I'm sure it will pop up with her passing. What a remarkable woman who did what we all hope to do. She left her mark..

lindsanity is right

Poor Lindsay. What has become of the cute redhead we all grew to love in mean girls. While the media is ripping her to shreds I hopeful she will come around...even if i stand alone!
I know theres 101 stories reported of her being quite messy all over Hollywood late night partying. But rumors are normally just that.
Anyways "apparently" Lind's is in trouble again. She violated her probation by not going to her court ordered classes and may be facing jail time. If convicted i doubt the judge will give her the "Paris 15", she will probably be made an example of. Here's whats not helping, her dad. After reportedly barging in her house with police to grab younger sister Ali,  (or to catch her in the act i personally think) to now his letter to the judge which so conveniently has become public. Thank you TMZ for the letter and pic below.

basketball wives

I have been waiting for a long time for this show to air, and like i expected, It has yet to disappoint. Aside from the drink thrown at plastic surgery, lol, My fave part is the look on Royce's face. Must be hard to play the fence between hanging with the main chick, to dancing with all the sidelines....whats a girl to do????
What i do love is Evelyn and Jennifer's relationship. There friendship seems genuine which is hard to find. Jennifer is obviously conflicted over her relationship, and who could blame her. Many may talk trash about marrying for money or addicted to the lifestyle. But at the end of the day that is her husband, feelings and emotions have to be involved to some degree. And say what you want, if given the chance to walk in down the aisle with a NBA player, you might do it too!
What i dont really love.... Gloria. Not that its her fault. The girl is 23. But if she goes in on the girls being envious of her relationship one more time im going to scream! Girl wake up. Her husband and her have a lovely relationship and beautiful children. But at the end of the day... The fact that her husband wont acknowledge or speak on the infidelites on the the road speaks volumes. Does he have to pull a Kobe and out everyone, abosolutely not. But dont act like youve got no idea about it. Lol and when gloria was on the couch speaking about some of the stories shes heard, he didnt even want to go there. He looks just a bit guilty if you ask me. But thats her husband, therefore her problem. I guess i hate women in relationships who stay blind to stay happy. And shes looks like one of them.....it is what it is!

r&b productions*

got my brandy fix yesterday and i have to say, i liked "bran'nu"! lol despite not originally seeing the point since brandy had already been so successful. But its something different and shes entitled to try new things. Shes not our moesha anymore :) But Ray J on the guitar was hilarious. Hungover my ass, the boy was drunk! lol  I wonder what kind of partying went down the night before that would make his boys follow up with a stripper in the office.... Shame Shame Shame~! But it was eventful none the less. I also heart Brandys bff, she says what she means and doesnt apologize for it. Got to love a chick that plain and simple "keeps it real" theres not enough of us left! this show is definately giving us a different look at mr. ray j, which is a good thing, along with the rest of the norwood family. In the times of reality television taking over this may be just what the doctor ordered.
